Peggys cove 3 8x12
This image was taken on a trip to the east coast in the fall of 2009. I like this image. This old dory in the foreground is interesting. It suggests a simpler time when when a man would fish his net from a small boat with wheels to run his net through while he picked fish along the length of the net.

On our travels we went to every little fishing village we could find, many in very remote areas, down old gravel roads.
I wanted to photograph old fishing villages that still had the old world charm with the gray shingled building on stilts and Cape Islander boats lined up along old docks with dorys anchored here and there.
Very often I was disappointed.
Many of the old vilages look more modern today with big rock breakwaters and a lot of the old buildings have been replaced. Peggys Cove, although well known and "touristy" still had a charm to it that others areas have not preserved. The harbour is a natural inlet, so no giant breakwaters, and there are still a few old buildings around that look great.
